"Mozart plus Saless and Morgan: Spellbinding"

An Article by Robin McNeil,
Opus Colorado Music Critic

Friday evening, October 28, I attended a concert at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral on 14th Avenue and Washington Street. This is one concert that I had been looking forward to, for it was a joint venture between two very exciting music organizations in the state, if not the entire Rocky Mountain region. It was a combined concert between the Ars Nova Singers, conducted by Thomas Edward Morgan, and the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Bahman Saless. The main event of this concert was the Mozart Requiem, which as everyone knows, is one of the Requiem Masses of all time. The Mozart Requiem was sung after the intermission, but before the intermission were two absolute gems: the Concerto for Strings in D minor, RV 127, by Antonio Vivaldi, and the Cantique de Jean Racine, by Gabriel Fauré.

"Lindsay Deutsch, Bahman Saless, and the Boulder Chamber Orchestra are World Class"

An Article by Robin McNeil,
Opus Colorado Music Critic

The last four weeks have been amazing. I have attended four concerts, one of which was very good, one which was excellent, and two which were extraordinary and worthy of any concert hall you would care to name. One of the extraordinary concerts was Saturday night, October 1, given by the Boulder Chamber Orchestra at the Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church of Denver.

February 2011

A spontaneous letter of feedback from one of our patrons.

By Cindy Morris

"February 2011

Maestro dear ~

I have heard 'Appalachian Spring' performed many times over the years but I can never recall being as moved by the piece as I was at the Boulder Chamber Orchestra's rendition on Friday night last in Boulder.

The flute player, some modern-day Pan, and the clarinet player took the piece a place I had never been to before. Of course all the musicians shone.

Thank you for this transcendant performance. And thank you for continuing to bring magical music to our community.

Your most appreciative fan ~
Cindy Morris"

"Boulder orchestras open seasons"

An Article by Wes Blomster, Camera Classical Music Critic, September 27th, 2010

Mozart is the measure. That's the golden rule behind the success that Bahman Saless has brought to the Boulder Chamber Orchestra. "During our first five years we played no Mozart," says Saless, who opens the seventh BCO season next weekend. "His music is perfect, and he makes the greatest demands on an orchestra of any composer. "But now we're ready to take a big step forward and play Mozart -- even when he demands the most!"

Some Prokofiev

"Some Prokofiev"

Posted by Art Smoot

Last night Prokofiev's Second Violin Concerto was performed by Lindsay Deutsch with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Bahman Saless conducting. I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive about it because it's reputed to be a complicated piece for all involved. Deutsch and Saless pulled it off successfully.

"Lindsay is everything we expected and more. She is a fantastic musician, yet a gracious and lovable collaborator. The Orchestra, myself and the staff truly enjoyed working with her and we made some great music. The house was almost completely packed both nights and she got standing ovation every time! What else can I say? I look forward to working with her again in the near future."

"Going for Baroque - The Boulder Chamber Orchestra's Women Are Perfectly in Tune" by Wendy Kale

The women outnumber the men in the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, giving the classical group's string performances a very sweet edge. To add to that sweetness, the non-profit group also offers education and outreach programs to the Boulder community.

The BCO has only been in existence since 2004, but the group has already become the town's premier chamber group. Under the leadership of musical director Bahman Saless, the orchestra has come to the forefront of the local cultural scene by presenting classical pieces that aren't often heard in a chamber setting.
