Master Classes

Each season BCO invites our guest artists to participate in our outreach initiative at Boulder High School, by teaching a master class. This season we were honored to have violinists Chloe Trevor and Yabing Tan work with students.

The Master Class is an incredible opportunity for students. It allows them the chance to perform in front of their peers while being critiqued and instructed by a professional musician.  It is a wonderful opportunity for growth. BCO understands the importance of music as part of education, and we are so thrilled to be able to bring this unique experience to students in the Boulder area.

As part of our outreach program BCO sends our professional musicians to Boulder High School each month to work on sectionals with their orchestral students. This unique opportunity allows the students to work closely with a professional in the arts.

Side by Side

This season BCO is preforming a side by side concert with the Boulder High School Orchestra November 17th 2016. The concert is truly a culmination of each piece of the outreach program.

What the Students think...

Being able to work with professional musicians is an amazing experience that most high school students don’t get the opportunity to do. I really value the advice that I received from the sectionals.

I think it is very inspiring to work with professional musicians. They clearly have a lot of experience , are amazing on their instruments, and have a passion for music. This makes me want to work harder and stick with it.

It’s cool to see what they (BCO musicians) are doing with their professions and how amazing they are at what they do. Sometimes it’s more like famous people rather than teachers.

We receive more personal attention in the sectionals and there is more focus on how to emphasize the smaller things...
