Kevin Sylves
Double Bass

Kevin Sylves is a founding member of the Boulder Chamber Orchestra and has served as principal bassist since 2005. Mr. Sylves has been a featured soloist on several occasions and has enjoyed the opportunity to share smaller chamber works that feature the double bass in BCO's Mini Chamber series. He has also played in the bass sections of other Colorado ensembles including the Boulder Philharmonic, the Longmont Symphony, and MahlerFest.

Mr. Sylves began studying the double bass at age 10 in Buffalo, NY, and went on to earn Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance and Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering degrees from the University of Michigan. He has studied double bass with Stuart Sankey, Diana Gannett, Stephen Molina, Paul Bresciani, and Derek Weller.

As an aerospace engineer, Mr. Sylves has contributed to the design and analysis of several satellites and human spaceflight projects, including the Orion capsule for NASA's Artemis program. His other interests include board game design and enjoying beautiful Colorado with his family.
